Orbi Mesh Installation: Two methods

Power off your modem before connecting your Orbi Router. Connect the Orbi Router’s yellow WAN port to your modem with the Ethernet cable included. Both the Orbi Router and modem must be powered on. The Power LED will pulse white and then turn solid white.

Place the Orbi Satellite by plugging it in in a middle area, which is halfway between the router and the area with poor signal. Press the sync buttons on the satellite and router to connect. Orbi will only work after the satellite has confirmed the connection.

Orbi App Configuration through the Orbi App

1. Search for NETGEAR Orbi in the App Store. Install the Orbi app.
2. Tap the NETGEAR Orbi App on your phone. New System Setup. You will be guided through the process by this app.
3. Location access is required. Connect your smartphone to Orbi’s temporary wifi network.
4. Enter your WiFi network’s name (SSID), and the password. The name and password will apply to your Orbi Mesh network.
5. Create your Orbi administrator password.

After setup, you can use the Wi-Fi name (SSID), and the password that was created when setting up the router. Test your WiFi extender by walking around the house with your phone or laptop to check signal strength. The coverage should be strong and seamless throughout.

Installation through Orbilogin.net

Connect the Orbi hardware and follow the steps below to setup using the Web-based Browser:

1. You can connect to Orbi by connecting to your WiFi network on your laptop or computer.
2. Enter the IP address orbilogin.net in the address bar of the browser. Enter key.
3. Enter your admin login details to access the Orbi Setup Wizard.
4. The default username and password are usually admin. If these credentials don’t seem to work, you can check the label of your Orbi Router.
5. Accept Terms and Conditions. Create your Wi-Fi network (SSID), and set up a password. The name and password will apply to your Orbi Mesh network.
6. You will need to enter your Orbi administrator password. You may also be guided through the process of checking your Internet connection by using this wizard.

Orbi reboots after the installation is complete. Connect your device again to the newly created WiFi network.

Troubleshooting tips

Check that you are using the correct default details

You can find the default credentials on the label attached to the Orbi device. Use them for your first login into the Web-based interface. For security, we strongly recommend that you change your credentials once the device is set up.

Fix Browser Issues before Login

Try clearing the cache and cookies in your web browser or switching to another browser if orbilogin.net does not load. Try using your default IP (192.168.1.1). Also, make sure you’re using an updated browser.

Use Orbi App for Management

NETGEAR recommends the Orbi App for initial setup, and on-going management. It is more user friendly and offers a smoother experience. It can offer you more features, and make it easier to manage your Orbi device.

Reset to default if multiple errors are occurring

The Reset Button is located on the back or bottom of your Orbi device. The Orbi has a tiny pinhole with the word “Reset”. It is located on the bottom or back of the device.

Press and hold the Reset button with a paper clip or pin for 10 seconds. When the LED power starts to blink amber/orange, release the button.

Orbi reboots and restores factory defaults. It may take up to two minutes. The LED ring will turn solid white and then pulse as it starts up.
